Walk in Showers
A walk in shower is an extremely stylish and undeniably practical bathing solution. They are the shower of choice in many modern modern bathrooms as they not only look great, but they offer easy access and low maintenance too. Walk in showers come in a range of different styles, so we can help you design a showering solution which fits in with the look & feel of your home.
Ease of Access
Walk in showers usually have a small, shallow step, making for easy access in and out. However if required there are variations on this, such as level access showers (also known as Wet Rooms). As their name suggests, these provide completely level access, with no lip or tray to step on to.
We are able to design and install both walk in showers and level access showers, depending on what is best suited to your bathroom and your personal requirements.
If you or someone in your family has mobility issues, we would recommend a wet room (level access shower) as it is by far the best solution. Level access showers are predominantly designed to make access to the shower easy, especially if you happen to use a wheelchair or you find it difficult to step in and out of the shower. Being able to enter and exit your shower safely is crucial to minimise the risk of injury among those who may be particularly vulnerable.
All of our walk in showers are designed to provide you with a bathroom that is not only functional and safe, but looks amazing too! We understand that when you walk into your bathroom you want to be taken aback by how fantastic it looks. Having a safe and practical bathroom does not mean that you have to compromise on style or quality.
If your mobility levels are restricted, due to a disability or slowing down in old age, being able to use your bathroom confidently & comfortably is a huge part of remaining independent. It is an area of the house we all have to visit everyday, so make sure your bathroom is somewhere you can relax and enjoy.

Level Access Showers
Do you dream of being able to have a relaxing shower without the difficulties of getting in and out? A level access shower could be the answer to your problems!
Sometimes referred to as a wet room, a level access shower is an excellent solution for wheelchair users & for those with limited mobility. It is a shower area that does not have any step or lip at all, offering completely unrestricted access to the shower. This makes them ideal for the disabled and elderly. A chair (foldable or fixed) can also be be fitted to make the shower as comfortable and accessible as possible.
The walls and floor will be entirely waterproof, making the room effortlessly easy to keep clean and maintain. Take all the hassle out of showering with an Age Care Bathrooms level access shower!
Do I Need a Level Access Shower?
Having a level access shower installed is ideal if you have mobility issues where you would have trouble stepping into a shower tray (walk in shower). They are especially recommended for wheelchair users, to allow you to enter and exit the shower completeley unassisted.
Level access showers can also have seats installed and a varitey of safety features (grab rails for example) to make your showering much easier.
With a wide variety of fittings and styles available to you, we make it easier for you to decide what the best solution is for your bathroom and your budget
Can Level Access Showers Flood or Leak?
It is commonly misbelieved that having a level access shower may lead to water spilling out from your bathroom. Some people worry about this due to the fact that there is no tray to contain the water, like there is with a walk in shower. However, you can rest assured that a level access shower fitted by Age Care Bathrooms is guaranteed not to leak.
Our team have many years experience installing level access showers in a variety of different bathroom layouts. We design the gradient of the floor so that when water hits the ground, it slides straight down to the drainage point, much like it would towards the plug hole in a bath. All water is directed towards the draining point, which is known as gravity draining.
In addition, the waterproof floor covering that we use covers the edge where the wall meets the floor, so that no leaks can occur. When fitted by a professional, a wet room is no more likely to leak than a regular shower!
For a wheelchair user to comfortably navigate within their home, it’s essential that the doorways must be at least 32 inches wide. In order to meet this standard, increase mobility and improve quality of life for wheelchair users, installing a wheelchair accessible door and widening a door frame may be necessary. By doing so, you can maintain the independence of a wheelchair user by providing them access to different rooms within their home easily and without the support of another person.
With the installation of a wheelchair accessible door and widening a door frame, we think considerably about customer safety, accessibility and compliance. Our many years of experience in widening doorways for wheelchair access and thorough knowledge learnt through healthcare professionals means that we have developed a thorough installation process. We aim to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible to ensure ease of accessibility for our customers and avoid as much inconvenience as possible.
A practical solution to enhance mobility, access ramps allow users access up and downstairs, through doorways and even raised landings.
For a better quality of life, installing a ramp could give back or maintain a person’s independence in their own home by allowing an individual to safely access and leave their home, get to the garden or use the necessary equipment to move around freely. They increase mobility, minimise the risk of injuries or accidents and can be used independently, without the support of another person.
When installing our access ramps, we think considerably about customer safety, accessibility and compliance. After many years of experience designing and installing wheelchair ramps, and through knowledge shared by healthcare professionals, charities, housing associations and local authorities, we have developed a thorough build and installation process. We do this quickly and efficiently in order to ensure ease of accessibility for our customers and avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
